The National Registry or “the Registry” produces the Certified Food Safety
Manager™ exam (CFSM) and tracks those who have successfully completed the test.
National Registry of Food Safety Professionals is only one of five
organizations with food safety manager certification exams recognized by the
Conference for Food Protection (CFP). The mission of the Registry is to
develop, market and provide the best Psychometric Testing and certification
service in the food safety and public health areas worldwide to candidates and
administrators; and to provide on-going education and support.
There are many different groups of people involved to help the Registry in
achieving their mission. The System for Environmental Exams (SEE) serves as the
central point where the various stakeholders enter and retrieve real-time
information. The system is integrated with the Registry's public website so
users experience a seamless transition when logging into the system. Exam
Administrators login to place orders and retrieve candidate scores. This
information is available immediately after the scoring process has completed,
providing information to administrators as fast as possible. Corporate sponsors
login to export recent exam information for relevant candidates. This
information can then be imported into their internal corporate databases which
allows an easy method of data transfer that occurs on demand.
At the Registry, members of the Testing Department login to score exams and
print certificates. The system was specifically designed for maximum
productivity to allow members of the Testing Department to score and edit more
exams in a shorter amount of time.
The SEE system also maintains an inventory of exam booklets. Each exam booklet
is bar-coded and tracked from the time it enters the premises to the time it is
shredded after use. As exam booklets are shipped, they are temporarily removed
from inventory and assigned to appropriate orders. This allows the Registry to
tightly control their inventory of exam booklets.
Since all the Registry's activities occur as part of the SEE system, members of
Management can login to see productivity statistics by day, including
statistics on the placement of orders, the exams scored, and the orders and
exams shipped.
In addition to enabling the smooth processing of orders, the system was designed
to allow the Registry to pursue other business opportunities. For example, with
limited customization, the Registry can score various types of exams, which
allows them to enter different markets where testing, scoring, and issuing
certificates is required. As the Registry grows and changes in the future, the
SEE system will grow and change to accommodate the needs of the business.
